The Director IT Strategy, Planning and Delivery reporting to the CIO, you will ensure our strategies, plans and services meet the rapidly changing needs of tomorrow’s learners. The role will manage the ‘business of the IT’ department, and directly oversee the PMO function and the IT Finance function. You will lead complex and transformational programs that span across both IT shared and business unit teams. You will work closely with P/L, functional and IT leadership teams across the organization.

    • Help select and implement suitable technology to streamline internal operations and optimize organization-wide benefits.
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of new strategic initiatives and provide guidance to staff.
    • Monitor changes or advancements in technology and devise new initiatives to benefit Adtalem.
    • Engage in vendor contract negotiations for the acquisition of new computer equipment and software.

    Responsibilities

    Strategy/Planning

    • Lead annual IT strategic and operational planning process. Work IT executive team and business leaders to ensure the IT strategic plan is aligned to the goals and objectives of the broader organization.
    • Partner with IT executive team and business leaders, including Marketing, HR, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Relations, to design strategic roadmaps.
    • Work with IT and Business leaders to monitor progress against both IT and Business strategic objectives.

     

    PMO/Delivery

    • Define and develop the strategic role of the Project Management Office (PMO), maintain a consistent definition in identification of projects and execution of projects within the Adtalem,
    • Develop and define the project management process, standards, deliverables and operational cadence necessary to ensure consistent project execution.
    • Facilitate the prioritization and planning process both within departments and across the business units to ensure clear, well-defined communication plans and program/project statuses enterprise-wide.
    • Establish/Maintain processes and tools for the regular tracking and reporting of progress on all projects and departmental efforts, as well as performance metrics on projects.
    • Supports Business Unit PMOs and initiatives by ensuring proper financial management of all technology projects in their portfolio, providing financial transparency to project sponsors, steering committees, and business partners.
    • Leads/ trains organization on Agile project management processes and delivery methods

     

    IT Finance Management

    • Assembles and administers global IT budget
    • Analyze the costs, value and risks of IT in order to advise management and suggest action steps to increase efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
    • Ensure IT financials are transparent and clearly support the organizations strategic and operational needs.
    • Work with HQ Finance team to perform monthly financial close and variance analysis.
    • Work with business unit finance teams to establish annual budget allocation targets and monthly variance analysis

    Qualifications

    • 10 years of relevant experience leading complex multiphase cross-functional transformational
    • 10-15 years of IT and business/industry work experience.
    • 6-8 years of program/project management office management experience.
    • 3 years of experience in an Agile environment. 
    • ACP/PMP certification preferred
    • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance concepts, proficient in managerial accounting and financial modeling tasks.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong executive presence.
    • Experience with Merger integration, IT Strategy, IT Integration,
    • Bachelors in Computer Science or other related field. Master’s degree desired.
