    As the Senior Director, Global Safety & Security, you are responsible for assessing and managing security risks for all Adtalem Global Education (ATGE) locations.  You work closely with senior management to formulate and maintain incident management policies.  Additionally, you develop, manage and communicate organization-wide crisis, natural disaster and security policies.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct and implement organization-wide strategies for managing processes related to risk assessment and prevention, preparing for and managing adverse events or incidents, including those that may negatively impact the reputation of Adtalem Global Education.
    • Supervision of three Regional Security Managers and a Security Specialist. Responsible for the hiring, terminating, development, and performance management of direct reports.
    • Responsible for maintaining a network of incident commanders across all ATGE locations.
    • Coordinate / consult with international locations on security initiatives, incidents and reporting.
    • Serve as a core member of the Global Crisis Response Team. You will develop and manage emergency response policies as well as incident management plans, related training plans and programs. Additionally, you will develop a process for regular, periodic review and evaluation of organizational readiness.
    • Coordinate with the senior leaders of operating and technology units on the execution of incident management plans by providing objective review, analysis, and appraisal on their work processes and information technology.
    • Provide leadership and direction for the management of strategic security innovation. You remain aware of trends, analysis, studies and evaluations that inform the organization’s understanding of threats.  You develop effective practices to enhance organizational response to threats.
    • Oversee adherence to company security-related policies and monitor the key drivers that affect those policies.
    • Should an incident or crisis occur, you are responsible for closely coordinating with onsite personnel and those areas needing to provide support – such as IT, operations, facilities, finance, government, investor and public relations, human resources and legal. The coordination effort includes:
      • Around-the clock responsibility for monitoring global security conditions, with particular focus on the countries in which Adtalem operates. You anticipate and respond directly and proactively to colleagues, students or customers that may be impacted by emerging events or conditions.
      • Act as the central and first contact for all incidents (crisis, natural disaster and/or security issues).
      • Make the necessary initial contact to management personnel at ATGE to avoid multiple alerts and ensure consistency of the message. You provide appropriate updates.
      • Lead the response team and establish a command center in time of crisis, disaster or a security issue.
      • Approve all communications – in conjunction with the Global Crisis Response Committee – that are issued during or after a crisis, natural disaster or security incident.
      • Provide the support needed to assist onsite management in taking action.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a security, law enforcement or military role.
    • Superior knowledge of global safety and security management.
    • Proven ability to set strategic direction and develop operational plans.
    • Experience with and the ability to effectively manage dangerous, ambiguous, high-stress and high-stakes situations.
    • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Must be skilled in formulating policies and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
    • Ability to travel extensively – both domestically and internationally (estimated between 25% and 40%)

    • Other required skills include budget preparation and fiscal management; organizing resources and establishing priorities; the ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports; the use of personal computers and related software applications; ability to foster a cooperative work environment; and the ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.
